Wonders they say shall never end. A goat chewing posters is the last thing I expected to see, but trust me it was live on Metro TV news item on the 20th Sep. 2008 at 7 pm and anyone who is in doubt can check for him/herself. But the good news is that, no one was killed or any house was burnt. Unlike the Gushegu violent where lives and properties were lost as a result of some party supporters defacing the posters of the other party.
I have been struggling to understand why a goat will walk pass leaves and go to chew a poster. Reporting on what I saw on the TV, the goat was wandering around a wall pasted with both Prof. Atta Mills and Nana Addo’s posters, stood for about two minutes looking at the posters. And went straight to pull-down one of Nana Addo’s posters and strangely begun to chew it. The possible reasons I can assign to this are, may be the person who pasted the poster might have earlier on touched smoked/fried fish and in the process soiled the posters and the smell attracted the goat. Or the substance used as adhesion in pasting the poster might be one of the goat’s favorable foods. However, if you don’t agree with this opinion, then let’s try some superstition. Is it the NDC who sent the goat spiritually to destroy NPP posters? Or the economic hardship is too unbearable for the goat and hence does not want to see the NPP’s posters? Or it’s a nice way of telling the NPP that even the animal kingdom is also fed-up with them and thus should allow the messiah Prof. to rescue Ghanaians? Well, your guess is as good as mine.
