Ghanaian artistes unknown in Nigeria due to bad management – Chuey Chu

Popular Nigerian Pulse TV presenter and MC, Chuey Chu, has blamed the inability of Ghanaian musicians to break into the Nigerian market on poor management.

According to him, if Ghanaian artistes really want to make inroads into the Nigerian space, then they will need to have an aggressive public relations team to project their brands.

Similarly, he said, they will need to tone down on collaborations with Nigerian artistes and focus on producing their own songs that will catch the attention of the market across the sub region.

Speaking as a guest on the Class Drive, hosted by Prince Benjamin on Class 91.3FM on Tuesday April 4, Chuey Chu said: “Ghanaian artistes that have my attention, I’m looking at Medikal, I really like his song Too Risky; I am looking at Kofi Kinata, Eazzy, Becca – these are those who I can get on top of my head.

“I would like to hear more from Efya, a lot of Ghana music does not come to the Nigerian space and I think that might be a PR problem. There are a lot of good stuffs here. I will love them to come to the Nigerian market without doing a collaboration with other Nigerian artistes because sometimes realistically, it (collaboration) will drown you out.

“We have had Stonebwoy do a collaboration, but do we remember Stonebwoy in Nigeria? I don’t think we do. Sarkodie, we don’t remember you like that; with Efya, not really. Even in the Nigerian space Wizkid did a song with Drake, but do the Americans remember Wizkid? No. So just give us that song so that it will be like this Ghana song is banging.”
