The Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre was the place to be on the 4th of August, 2012, to get your ribs cracked by comedians who have devoted their lives to healing people who are depressed by boredom spirits; it was the Night of 1014 Laughs & Music.
It was a beautiful night as the crowd couldn’t stop laughing and dancing from start to finish, as Yaa Yaa, Efiriye of Wutah and Amandzeba thrilled with music, then Hogan, Akpororo, I Go Save, Bovi and Okey Bakassi ripped off the clothes of the audiences who only had themselves to blame for coming with just one handkerchiefs.
One man who showed a lot of improvement and maturity was the co-MC for the night, Funny Face. His ability to hold his own, when comedy is mentioned in Ghana has taken another toll. On the night where he made several confessions jokingly, I asked him if they were real, ‘yes, all the confessions of my past aren’t joke but the people will feel I am joking. I publicly had to apologize to my ex-girlfriend which to me I was real. These days, all I do is to take it to another level, allow the inspiration to lead and trust me that God has been faithful,” he answered.
In this vein, the Swag-On-Papa also opened up on what he has been cooking in his closet, ‘you know in this part of our world, it is not too ideal to be showing your face here and there, so I went into hiding. I have been hiding for a while, traveling and then making money through comedy. But one thing I have been doing which has taken much of time, is the project-MY CONFESSIONS, which is due to be out anytime soon. So my fans can be rest assured that something huge is coming their way’.
Then the issue of his relationship with actress Lydia Forson came up, I asked him what was fishy between them, he laughed and replied, ‘Lydia Forson is like just a wonderful friend. Anything you see me do is just a joke’.
We will want to wish him all the best of luck as he grows in his brand. ***
