BOASS whack Staffs in a friendly

Dunkwa-On-Offin, Dec. 15, GNA - Three classic goals scored in the second half powered the Obuasi Chapter of Boa Amponsem Secondary School (BOASS) Old Students Association to beat the school's staff by 3 goals to nothing in a special friendly match played at the school's playing grounds at Dunkwa-On-Offin last Saturday.

The scorers were Eric Fosu, Isaac Agyin and Gilbert Amoako. After a scoreless first half of thrills, the old students who initially played it soft for their masters switched on the heat and got the first goal in the 60th minute when Fosu completed a three-man move initiated from the left- flank by Isaac Mensah and Stanley Bassaw.

Led in attack by Erick Baiden, the masters launched series of raids but excellent goalkeeping by Joseph Ewonia especially in the 50th, 73rd and 80th minutes robbed them of any goal.

In the 70th minute, Agyin who played a great game stunned the spectators with a long-range 20-yarder drive to beat Akwasi Owusu in posts for the masters.

Sensing danger, the masters quickly replaced Issaka Duada with Jeiff Abeiku while the Old Students brought on Edward Sarfo for enterprising John Abeka but it was the Old Students who kept on to the pressure till Amoako sealed the doom of the masters in the 74th minute. The masters with their image dented before their students threw everything into the game to redeem at least a goal but brilliant saves exhibited by goal keeper Ewonia prevented them from getting a goal.

In a post-match interview, Headmaster of the school, Mr. Isaac K. Appiah said they were honoured by the visit of the Old Students to the school and that they allowed the "visitors" "to beat us so that the old Students will be encouraged to make frequent visits to the school".
