Kotoko Call For Ref Agbovi’s Head

Kumasi Asante Kotoko say they have requested the Ghana Football Association not to allow Referee William Agbovi to handle any of its matches.

Interim Management Committee Chairman, Sylvester Asare Owusu (pictured) said yesterday that Agbovi's performance was below par accusing him of refusing to award the penalty decisions in his club's favour when Charles Taylor was fouled on two occasions in the vital area.

Justifying the rationale behind the club's decision, Asare Owusu who was monitored on a Kumasi radio station said Kotoko saw nothing wrong with requesting the blacklisting of Agbovi in the light of Hearts' repeated blacklisting of several referees who have handled their matches with Kotoko.

The IMC Chairman sited the example of Referee Ibrahim Iddrissu of Tamale who has been blacklisted by Hearts since the 2001 2-0 drubbing of Hearts at the Kumasi Sports Stadium. "If Hearts can get the FA to accede to such wishes then we can easily do same," the IMC Chairman argued yesterday.
