Counsellor Lutterodt apologises for inciting comments

Relationship counsellor and media personality, Cyril George Lutterodt, has issued an apology over alleged comments said to have incited public unrest.

In an interview on Okay FM on March 10, 2026, the relationship counsellor acknowledged that the comments he made urging Ga youth to carry pickaxes and other tools to exhume the body of the late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba from his East Legon residence were uncalled for.

Counsellor Lutterodt said when he was invited by the police, and his attention was drawn to the video of him allegedly inciting the youth to cause public unrest, he apologised to the Ghana Police Service immediately.

He also urged the youth not to take any action that could create problems or suggest that his comments influenced such behaviour.

“I acknowledge that some of the statements I made were inappropriate. The police drew my attention to those parts, and I accept that I should not have said them. I sincerely apologise to listeners, the Ghana Police Service, and all the security agencies. I also urge young people not to take any action that could create problems or suggest that my comments influenced such behaviour,” he said.

However, the counsellor is expected to appear in court on March 11, 2026.

He had earlier made comments urging Ga youth to exhume the body of the late highlife musician Daddy Lumba from his East Legon residence.

He allegedly argued that burying the musician at what he described as an unapproved location on Ga land disrespected local traditions and authorities, and called for immediate action if the proper cultural procedures were not followed.
