Bragging Rights as Ambulley claims, 'I Am the Originator of Rap Music'

Gyedu Blay Ambulley has declared himself the originator of rap music in the world. He stated that his origination of rap music is not only in Ghana but the world as a whole. He disclosed this on the ‘Taxi Driver’ show in the ‘Black Pot’, hosted by Blakk Rasta.

He said, “I am the first to commercialize rap music and I have documents to it; that was back in 1973”.

In the Guinness book of records, it is stated that Sugarhill Gang originated rap music but he is challenging that by saying he is the originator of rap music. According to him, in 1973, he was the first person to commercialize rap music and people would identify that if they checked his music archives.

He also added that, on his return to Ghana from America, he realized that the hip-lifers were calling Reggie Rockstone the “God Father” of hip-life but he never had a problem with it. Ambulley said, Reggie calls him “Puppy” all the time and he responds, “my son” because Reggie gave him that due respect since he was the originator and Reggie Rockstone catapulted what he did.

He concluded that Reggie Rockstone did well by paving the way for the younger ones to do hip-life songs. ***
