Bollywood Film Festival In Ghana

A film festival held annually in India to showcase the exploits of the country’s Bollywood movie industry and also serve as a beacon of solving societal setbacks is set to rock Ghana’s showbiz industry this weekend.

The Indian High Commission in Ghana, as part of the festival, is organizing a series of screening of India’s captivating, interesting and educative movies at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra. This is scheduled for today, Friday 19th March and Saturday 20th March.

It will kick off this afternoon with the screening of the movie ‘Aasman Se Gira’, which will be followed by another movie titled ‘Abhayam’ at 3pm. On Saturday, the screening will proceed with ‘Chirayu’ at 12noon and then ‘Aaj Ka Robinhood’. All the movies are in Indian language but have subtitles to help non-Indians understand.The screening however is free and open to the general public.

Dubbed ‘Festival of Indian Feature Films for Children’, the festival, according to the Indian High Commission in a letter signed and issued by Counsellor K.P Pillai, is aimed at providing a whole entertainment package for children in keeping with the spirit of Ghana’s 2010 Independence Day celebration which was themed ‘Investing in the Youth for a Better Ghana’.

The event is expected to attract a number of dignitaries from government, Ghana’s showbiz industry and officials of the India High Commission, as well as children.
