Ambulley Is The Originator Of Rap, I’m The Father Of Hiplife – Reggie Rockstone

Rap music has become the most listened to genre on the planet. Lots of music genres such as hip hop and hip life are all fusions of rap music. It’s very sad when you initiate something and the recognition for the originator is given to someone else. Guinness Book of Records as we all know records achievement by various people.

During the past week, there was a headlined story "Ambulley challenges Guinness Book of Records"... Due to that, the father of hip-life was contacted by Jamstar of K.FM to give his opinion on this issue because he is the originator of hip life music in Ghana and this is what he said: ‘When I was young I heard lots of musicians like Sugar hill and others but the very person who did something similar to rap music was my uncle Gyedu Blay Ambulley. When I heard him rapping I didn’t know that it was a rap but when I sit down to think about it now I recognize it was a rap.

And what people don’t know is that when I was in the states, there was this magazine called echoes magazine, they used to mention my uncle’s name so if we get this magazine it will even prove that he is the originator of rap music. So far Guinness Book is giving it to Sugar Hill, I don’t have to look into it, I don’t need to but all I can tell you is my immediate history and that is there is no one who I heard rapping in a dialect except for him. So he is the god father when it comes to rap’

When Reggie Rockstone was asked the difference between himself and Ambolley, he said the difference is called revolution.

"Everything has changed, before hip life, we had Borga High-life and i’m the father of hip life but not the originator of rap music and I didn’t bring rap to Africa. Moreover, I named my movement as hiplife but Ambolley didn’t have a name to his so it was termed as borga high life.

Reggie was further asked if he will be over shadowed by Ambolley when he is recognized by Guinness book of records as the originator of rap, Since Ambolley will be a global figure by then, He said he is not claiming that he brought rap music to Ghana so we shouldn’t confuse ourselves with it.
