Arkutu, Farl win Barclays Golf

Accra, May 21, GNA-David Arkutu partnered by Nii Farl returned a net score of 63, to win this year's Barclays Bank Ghana Limited Invitational Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

The two who played with a combined Handicap of nine, will be playing to a new Handicap of six.

Tom Mongari and his partner, Yao Cofie came second with 66 net, Robert Aziamakpor and Ama Morgan playing together, placed third with 68 net, the pair of Nicolo Catto and John Francois took the fourth position with 69 net, beating Bob Evans and Esther Amedzro on count-back while Nana Tackie/Tettegie George placed six with 70 net. About 200 golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim Golf Clubs, took part in the one-day competition.

Mr. Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club praised Barclays Bank for sponsoring the competition and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport Mrs. Maergaret Mwanakatwe, Managing Director of the bank said the bank remains committed to sponsoring the tournament.

She said apart from it being an activity in corporate social responsibility, it is one of the bank's major customer platforms, during which they share quality time with customers and potential customers alike.

Mrs. Mwanakatwe, on behalf of the bank presented a motor bicycle to the Achimota Golf Club to help promote their activities.
