Burkinabes Worried

Burkinabe dailies are sceptical about the national football squad's form, five days ahead of their first round match in the joint 2006 World Cup/CAN campaign against Ghana.

The warm up matches punctuated by two losses (1-2 to Lens and 0-1 against Benin) and a 3-2 win over Libya have cast doubt in the minds of fans in the performance of Coach Ivica Todorov's charges.

The privately owned L'Observateur Paalga newspaper lamented what it termed as "worrisome test matches," saying the team's performances have failed to impress the fans.
The Stallions are still looking for their bearings, the paper noted.
Le Pays, another daily, praised the team's revelations, Issouf Sanou and Hermann Ouedraogo, but acknowledged that "a week before the qualifier against the Black Stars of Ghana, there is no doubt that the technical staff is still looking for a starting line- up."
"The team still suffers poor standards, with a defence not up to scratch," Sidwaya Sports, a bi-weekly, intimated.
