Renowned Ghanaian music producer and artiste manager, Kwesi Ernest, has thrown his weight behind Wendy Shay, vowing to do everything possible to ensure she secures the highly contested TGMA Artiste of the Year title.

He said this while speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the TGMAs nominees announcement ceremony held on March 14, 2026, in Accra.

While reflecting on the performance of Ghanaian music in 2025, Kwesi Ernest expressed his delight with the achievements of local musicians, particularly their success in selling out shows during the latter part of the year.

“The music industry is growing, and I'm so proud of all our artistes. It's not just like they are doing shows and they are doing it to empty seats. They are filling the spaces. You went to Wendy Shay's concert. You saw the whole place was flooded with fans,” he noted.

Asked about his predictions for the Awards, Kwesi Ernest touted Wendy Shay’s achievements, stating, “It is my daughter's season. We know what she has done. 2025-2026 has been the year of Wendy Shay. She’s the queen of all the female artistes we have in GH, and I'm so proud of her. I'm so proud of her. "

He praised himself for what he considers his greatest professional achievement: discovering and nurturing Wendy Shay into the force she is today.

“One of the things that I hit my chest every day for is that if I am not able to do anything with my life, being able to even bring Wendy Shay into the music industry alone is enough," he said.

He closed with a rallying call, declaring that he will stop at nothing to see Wendy Shay crowned Artiste of the Year.

“I'm her ‘father,’ and I'll make sure I put my foot down and canvas every vote that is required for my daughter Wendy Shay to win the Artist of the Year award,” he concluded.

Wendy Shay faces stiff competition in the Artiste of the Year category, going up against Black Sherif, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton.

With public voting now open ahead of the May 9 ceremony, Kwesi Ernest's campaigning has just begun.
