Following the announcement of nominees for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Artiste of the Year contender Medikal has declared himself the rightful winner of the highly contested award.

He has warned the TGMA board to base their decision solely on merit, without favoritism.

According to a report by Ghanaweekend.com, Medikal made the statement during his performance at the Kumawu Papa Nantwie Festival concert in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, March 15, just hours after the 'Artiste of the Year' category was unveiled.

With the crowd behind him, Medikal rallied his fans to send a direct message to the awards body, insisting there must be “No Libilibi No Labalaba”, meaning no bias, no backroom deals, and no politics in selecting the winner.

"You know they have nominated me for TGMA awards, including the Artiste of the Year. And we all know, last year I worked more than everybody in that category.

“So tell them that 'No Libilibi No Labalaba' for the Artiste of the Year award. I outperformed every artiste the whole of last year," he told the cheering crowd.

Medikal finds himself in one of the most competitive Artiste of the Year lineups in recent memory, going up against Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton.

Public voting has since opened, and the battle is already heating up across social media ahead of the main awards ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026.
