2026 TGMAs: Gyakie bags three nominations

Singer and songwriter Gyakie has secured three nominations at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) following the official nominees’ announcement held in Accra on March 14.

The nominations recognise songs and projects released over the past year that made significant impact on the public.

Gyakie earned her nominations with “Sankofa,” which was nominated for Best Afropop Song of the Year, while she also secured a nomination in the Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year category.

Her debut album “After Midnight” received a nomination in the Album/EP of the Year category as well.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards celebrates excellence in Ghanaian music and honours artistes across various genres.

The nominees list was headlined by Black Sherif, Medikal, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie as the most nominated acts of the cycle, with Blacko picking up nods across Artiste of the Year, Best Hiphop Song, Best Afropop Song, Best Music Video and Songwriter of the Year.

Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Medikal, Wendy Shay and Diana Hamilton complete a fiercely competitive Artiste of the Year lineup, while Olivetheboy emerges as one of the most talked-about rising names, featuring across multiple categories as a collaborator.

In all, the 2026 TGMAs is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested editions yet.
