Not even one project commissioned by President Mahama in Sunyani whiles others were given two or more modern infrastructures like modern market, modern sports studium, modern university, good roads and etc what did we get to be proud of in Sunyani, absolutely nothing.Treat us with respect and balance the equation and most importantly we are all Ghanaians and for that matter fairness to every region must be addressed is the way forward for total development of our dear country. One does not need rocket science to establish the reason for NDC's humiliating and emphatic defeat.The major bane of the John Mahama administration was taking party functionaries for granted.In one of my earlier articles on this same platform i bemoaned the fact that proliferation of mass media particularly radio stations have made the average Ghanaian voter discerning and informed about political happenings.John Mahama in my personal view was somebody who appears to be egoistic and vindictive refusing to admit glaring flaws that was bound to cause NDC's defeat.From where i stand he developed a very virulent,antagonistic and oppressive approach in stifling party members perceived to be loyal to the Founder,jerry Rawlings in an attempt to create his own power base.His obsession with excessive power dominance by keeping old guards including the Founder redundant and ineffective created serious factions and divisions on the quiet.We are not saying all old gurus with the experience to help JDM all meant good but some like Martin Amidu, a true and ardent believer of the NDC ideology as a Social Democratic Party meant good for his party and government.His sole crime was that he refused to be a praise singer for gains in the midst of obvious flaws that did not reflect social democracy and social justice in the interest of the poor masses who repose so much confidence in the NDC as a party and ofetn help it into victory.Unfortunately John Mahama was surrounded by wolves pretending to be loyal and true friends who wanted his welfare than any other person.He erroneously misjudged the true motive of these sycophants and opportunists leaving through greed and avarice but also far more empowered them to molest,maltreat and bully other party members.The iron clad shield created around then President Mahama by these greedy characters was in their own parochial interest of using the party as a vehicle to enrich themselves rather than the fortunes of the party and JDM as elected government and president.It was quiet ironic that John Mahama with all his wealth of political experience could not see through the crystal ball but rather sort to victimize and persecute persons falsely perceived as enemies and threat to his political ambition.His deliberate ploy of subtle political persecution in the wake of criticism by concerned loud voices in his interest and that of the party was astonishing despite all the wrong things that made the party extremely unpopular.His penchant for political patronage and homage paying through open cronyism,nepotism and corruption that saw few so-called loyals filthy rich but majority,particularly the grassroots machinery marginalized and deserted was incredible.To commit such a huge political fallacy meant an eminent political suicide and the dividends was what he reaped in the just ended election that saw an emphatic,bruising,humiliating defeat in the hands of the major opposition,NPP.The resounding and embarrassing defeat for a sitting president,the first of its kind in the fourth Republic was largely as a result of voter apathy in the strongholds of the NDC instigated by corruption,discrimination and favoritism that saw party loyalists and foot soldiers deeply disenchanted and dissatisfied.What ever informed then President Mahama not to appreciate this reality but continue to glow in confidence hinged on false security defies logic other than the obvious reason that he was not in touch with the ground.This was made worse by his refusal to heed to advise or accept constructive criticism by persons genuinely concerned about the welfare of the party and his own welfare.It was quiet remarkable that he kept faith with people who obviously didn't like him but persistently pretended for their own selfish gains,only to eventually lead him into the abyss.Even when huge cash was spend in an attempt to buy votes,many who made a lot of money under the Mahama Government greedily held onto their money and did not contribute a dine to help his course.When the tribal card was played it backfired badly with the NPP making significant gains in the north including his own native Gonja land demonstrating anger and resentment for betraying,neglecting and even in some instances persecuting his own people.Dr.Bawumia who was very instrumental in the NPP victory became the de facto beneficiary and darling boy of the north because JDM turned against his own people who reposed trust and faith in him.Even when some northerners who committed their own financial resources and campaigned for JDM were victimized on political and tribal grounds through dismissals in public institutions,the Mahama Government turned against them by wilfully suppressing their case in court and resorting to government sponsored propaganda to justify serious instances of corruption in fact criminal in nature.The AG Department on behalf of the Mahama Government resorted to fabrication and concoctions in their defense instead of mounting investigations into some serious allegations of corruption involving high profile public officers.This collision,condonement and connivance in corruption and crime to protect corrupt public officers and avoid judgement debt liabilities was ample evidence of the drenching endemic corruption associated with the Mahama Government which the NPP made a huge capital of and used as a big political weapon that catapulted them into an emphatic victory with relative ease.Excessive show of power,opulence with impunity,arrogance,autocracy,motivation for sycophancy,bickering,backbiting,lies and blackmail;deliberate creation and promotion of factionalism merely to wield power,disrespect and disregard of constructive views,subtle political victimization and oppression of discerning voices rightly critical of happenings within party and government among,ostracizing and sidelining other stakeholders were major factors among others that led to JDM heavy defeat.Nevertheless,it is important to state that some key party figures criticism of John Mahama who actually contributed to his defeat,taking full advantage of the lapses and gaps created by his lack of vigilance,was purely personal and an inherent attribute of man's jealousy and selfishness.The organogram of the NDC hierarchy is relatively bereft of intellectual firepower and innovative thinking compared to the NPP that allowed mischievous so-called gurus of the party to run amok and do things their own and in their own likeness without due recourse to laid down structures or procedures.Mischievous elements who mostly intolerant and autocratic parading as gurus become more effective when leadership is asleep,weak and indifferent towards the plight of grassroots concerning the oppressive and callous deeds of so-called gurus who subject them to all manner of persecution and maltreatment.The survival instincts of Jerry Rawlings during the days of the PNDC and NDC 1 meant he was always in touch with the grassroots who were actually watch dogs and reported wayward leadership doing things out of order for corrective and restorative action.The vacuum created by the John Mahama Government allowed some already power drunk elements in the party to arrogate power to themselves who actually turned around to persecute and victimize others to further their narrow personal agenda of corrupt power and wealth acquisition often taking full advantage of the inherent weaknesses in structures and ignorance of people in party leadership who succumb to their dubious whims and caprices simply because they are not educated or informed enough to challenge wrongs by gurus who want to be worshiped as demagogues in the party.I have heard a lot of people lambast the National Youth Organizer of the NDC for being ineffective.You cannot blame him when many youth in the party were persecuted,maltreated and forced out of the party by some old gurus.Even at leadership level,a number of front role people in the party largely youth were forced to either resigned,defect or showed an indifferent attitude in crucial times in the heat to the election either because they were victimized,oppressed,sidelined or molested by gurus arrogating power to themselves and doing things in their own way.The NDC as a party under the leadership of JDM gave blessing to arbitrary and reckless misapplication of power by powers that be allowing open maltreatment,cheating and exploitation of the youth and grassroots base of the party without due recourse to their concerns that eventually created so much disaffection for the government and party by some very greedy,self centered and callous gurus in the party.The NDC as a party have been largely successful because of its revolutionary antecedence and because of the impact of its Founder jerry Rawlings.In order words majority of the youth particularly those born between the early seventies and early eighties have good will and loyalty towards the party because of the PNDC policy of conscientizing the youth through organs like the Boys Scout Brigade,CDR and PDC through its good socialist policies that ensured social justice in the interest of the poor masses.I fully agree with the likes of the Founder and Martin Amidu that the NPP rode on the back of the NDC moral grounds of eschewing corruption and ensuring accountability to a resounding victory largely because of its good will in ensuring same.I am sorry to state without reservation that some of those gurus like Alban Kingford Somani Bagbin who as an ardent critic of the Mahama Government who sort to advise him publicly is one of the most corrupt,selfish and vindictive politician i have ever known.I doubt if somebody like Bagbin would have performed better than John Mahama if giving the opportunity to govern this Country regarding his conduct and actions as a politician which are largely autocratic,brutish,destructive and inhumane.I shudder to think if Bagbin have any human feeling considering the ruthlessness with he deals with people who turn to disagree with him and in most instances for all his political evils committed in the dark at the blind sight of the public. I have not seen an iota of competence in community and human resource development other than destructive tendencies targeted at discerning youth including noticeable ones even within NDC whom he aggressively pursuit and destroyed.At the time that the Upper West Region is in dire need of doctors Bagbin have destroyed not less than 5 ,some of whom are card-bearing members of the NDC, with some dyeing out of frustration all in the name of politics.His recent victim was falsely accused of a mental illness and dismissed on the basis of same with his letter copied to Alban Bagbin as the Health Minister.This was somebody who was actually accused by his Director as being an NDC sympathizer who was reporting him to bigwigs in Accra.Not just that Bagbin was also having his maize and mango plantations on his Grand Father's land in Tumu,knew all about the facts on corruption and illegality needlessly killing patients in the hospital the doctor worked and spoke against, but sort to connive in victimizing him with a sack that was largely illegal.How can somebody blame then President Mahama for this irresponsible action on the part of a Health Minister who is a Cabinet Minister and a key government and party functionary?No little wonder numerous letters written to then President Mahama at Flagstaff House complaining about tribal and political persecution in that hospital against civil service code by a group of doctors never got to him.It is tantamount to sabotage.It is tantamount to usurping the powers of top executive in the midst heinous corruption and illegality suppressed by a Cabinet Minister,surprisingly but unfairly castigating the President for corruption for which he hugely played a role in propagating by relinquishing his responsibilities.This case recently opened properly for the first time in Court under a new Nana Addo Government at pointing to the fact that the new government is very much committed to fighting the canker of corruption that was so widespread under the previous Mahama administration not helped by people he trusted or entrusted power including those who heavily criticized his government for same.One of the major handicap of the past administration was deliberately politicizing corruption and heinous acts of illegality that provoked many discerning minds who have being victims of the corruption canker.Worse is the fact that the government often tinkered with the rule of law to protect corrupt public officials,government functionaries and party apparatchiks that got to the nerves and angered altitudes in the midst of glaring injustice and abuse.Take the case of a doctor fraudulently implicated with a mental illness and dismissed on the basis of same obviously because he complaint about a bribery scandal that killed a teenager who could not pay an illegal fee of Gh.C50 for blood transfusion widely captured by both traditional and social media.This was a dubious dismissal hinged on personal vendetta against international and local convention in the application of law something the then Health Minister, Alban Bagbin ,as a lawyer should know but deliberately and willfully supported for political or personal expediency.These were real happenings in a party and government that is supposed to be social democratic and espoused social justice in protecting vulnerable groups usually at the mercy of abuse by capitalist elite with power and wealth.The biggest headache of the NDC will be how to win back the numerous soles who either defected or sympathize with the NPP for very good reasons.The biggest problems gargantuan endemic corruption,dishonesty,aggressive pursuit of wealth and power by selfish individuals,deliberate policy of attrition and exclusion by gurus that is forcing many youthful intellectuals out currently bedeviling.Unlike the NDC,the NPP actively sort for,woo and nurture youthful intellectuals who bring on board innovative,scientific analysis and strategies that win election whiles the NDC dwell so much on archaic political patronage that make individuals with a destructive influence on the party excessively rich and powerful.They put their cronies including girl friends and concubines in key party and government positions even if they lack the competence or qualification to perform so that they can continue to monopolize and manipulate the party to satisfy their parochial interest rather than the party's interest.We are in scientific and innovative times where serious political considerations hinge on development oriented results requiring brain and thinking rather than propaganda,character assassination and tricks will judge future election results as proven recently.
