Look at this rubbish IMANI man so called Vice President who are just NPP surrogates. His boss, that opportunist Franklyn Cudjoe had the audacity to say some of the NDC promises are doable or empty. When it comes to NPP promises, IMANI went dumb. Let them open their mouths and NPP will skin them alive.

Well said my brother Nana Kuffour! Who should redefine the EC's powers? Does the constitution not define the EC's powers? if at any time you think the EC has overstepped its bounds go to court; simple.

Kokompe Lawyer must be redefined to suit the whims and caprices of this mischievous character and his political sponsors! I can now detect a growing chasm between him and his boss Franklyn Cudjoe. Could this be a clever way of hedging their bets by covering all the bases, and not putting all their eggs in one basket?

The opaqueness of the EC, coupled with it's misguided belief in it's awesome powers demonstrated by this EC, with the oft cited mantra of I am independent and therefore unanswerable to nobody, with a despotic failed President lurking in the shadows, and whispering nothingness in her ears is what would set this country up in flames.
If the EC is convinced most of the political parties on their books numbering over 20, are not functional, the laws are there to wipe those parties off their books. It was not because of anything those laws to wipe those parties off their books were written.
Adopting this circuitous route of dealing with that glaring problem through disqualification of some of the candidates of these parties, when some of these parties satisfy every condition on the books to exist as a political party in our multiparty democracy, is inconsistent and incongruous with sound reason, fairness and an interpretation of the laws.
The wrongful application of the laws by the EC in a manner to be described as transiently hazy and incoherent, to satisfy and achieve a certain perceived and rightfully so, myopic and altruistic end, is what makes the EC as it is presently constituted, imperfect.
It must be fixed and brought into conformity with it's true intent and mandate as a neutral body tasked with ensuring the processes and procedures underpinning our constitutional and fundamental human right to self-determination, is respected and upheld honestly, credibly and transparently to safeguard the peace and stability and the continuation of our democratic process.
That is the foremost issue we must attempt to address holistically. We cannot have those parties on the books to unduly influence IPAC decisions in a certain direction and then turnaround and scream you are disqualified.
The EC must fix it's image and credibility as a neutral body.

If the powers the EC is exercising are within its legal authority, where then reside the flaws Kofi Bentil is alluding to?
If Bentil believes the Laws empowering the EC are flawed, by whatever standards he is using to measure the Institution, he ought to proceed to the Parliament for redress but not ascribe to the EC any such unrecognized faults.
The only flaws that could be reasonably assigned to the EC are those that impinge on the basic tenets of Democracy and Human Rights, and might not be caught by the powers our Constitution assigns to it. It is up to Bentil to, then, define and locate what those might be, but also fault the Parliament for them and not the EC. So long as the EC acts within its Constitutional constraints, Bentil would have to do more to charge the EC of any flaws. If Bentil and his cohorts at IMANI had paid timely due attention and act accordingly, they might have helped to avert any such flaws that he is now attributing to the EC.
The reactionary response by IMANI to Public uproar that may or may not be based upon correct information is simply nauseating.

I perfectly agree with this. The EC powers must definitely be looked at again. Disqualifying all those candidates is not good and it certainly disenfranchise their supporters.
