The leadership of the NPP-USA New York Chapter, led by its Chairman, Frank Antwi, has demonstrated compassion and solidarity by paying a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong, the 15-year-old Ghanaian boy whose tragic murder has deeply shaken the country, the Ghanaian community in New York and beyond.
Background to the Tragedy
Javits was fatally shot on Thursday, October 29, 2026, while reportedly making his way to school in the Bronx, New York. According to police reports, the teenager sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Javits had relocated from Ghana to the United States approximately a year ago to join his father, Thomas Frimpong, in pursuit of better educational opportunities and a brighter future.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, his father disclosed that Javits had reportedly experienced bullying at school and that two students had recently been suspended following an incident involving his son. Although the possible connection between the reported bullying and the fatal shooting has not been established by investigators, the circumstances have raised serious concerns that deserve thorough examination.
As of the latest reports, no arrests had been announced, and investigations were ongoing.
NPP-USA New York Chapter Leadership’s Condolence Visit
During the visit, the Chapter leadership facilitated a special telephone condolence call from former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to Javits’s bereaved father, expressing heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the family during this painful period.
The gesture brought comfort and encouragement to the grieving family and demonstrated the importance of standing together in moments of tragedy.
A Call for Justice
While extending our deepest condolences to the family, the NPP-USA New York Chapter strongly believes that Javits’s death must not become another unresolved case.
We call on the New York Police Department and all relevant law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation into this tragic killing. Every available lead, including the reported bullying concerns, must be carefully examined to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Those responsible must be identified, apprehended and brought before the courts to face the full consequences of their actions.
A 15-year-old boy had his entire future ahead of him. He deserved the opportunity to live, learn, grow and pursue his dreams without fear of violence. His life mattered, and his death deserves answers.
We also call on the wider Ghanaian community, civil society organisations and all well-meaning individuals to stand with the Frimpong family in their pursuit of justice.
The NPP-USA New York Chapter leadership deserves commendation for demonstrating that leadership goes beyond politics. It is also about humanity, compassion and standing with people when they need support the most.
May God grant the bereaved family strength and comfort and may the soul of Javits Frimpong rest in perfect peace.
