Re-elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Odododiodio Constituency Chairman, Paul Oblie Laryea, has described his constituency as a place where political activities are often characterised by fighting, following violence that marred the party’s recent internal elections.

He has pledged to intensify education among party members to discourage violence and improve the image of the constituency.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, shared on October 25, 2026, Laryea described the clashes recorded during the polls as unfortunate, stressing that such incidents were not expected.

“Odododiodio is a boxing zone where people always used to fight. I don’t know whether they want to try their body or skills,” he said.

According to him, efforts have been made over the years to educate party members on the need to maintain peace, but the latest incident suggests that more work needs to be done.

“We have tried and done a lot to educate them. What happened here this afternoon is unfortunate. We’re not expecting something like this to happen,” he stated.

Laryea mentioned that he would intensify engagement with members and encourage them to resolve disagreements peacefully rather than resort to violence.

He further indicated that anyone found responsible for injuring another person during the clashes would have to face the consequences.

“We’re going to make sure that we educate them and talk to them. In the course of this, if anybody was injured, the one who did that will land somewhere and will not be happy,” he added.
