A new voter perception survey has revealed an emerging national appeal for New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, against potential National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates ahead of the 2028 presidential election.

According to the survey conducted by Africa Policy Lens, which sampled 16,963 Ghanaians across all 276 constituencies between July 27 and August 7, Dr Bawumia would carry between nine and eleven of Ghana’s sixteen regions in each of seven hypothetical matchups.

In terms of national support, Dr Bawumia polled 45.8 percent against Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s 42.4 percent, and 45.7 percent against Dr Cassiel Ato Forson’s 42.8 percent.

He also led Haruna Iddrisu, 45.9 percent to 41.5 percent; Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, 47.4 percent to 40.2 percent and Dr Julius Debrah, 48.4 percent to 37.9 percent.

The biggest margins were recorded against Eric Opoku, whom Dr Bawumia led 49.8 percent to 33.9 percent, and Prof Joshua Alabi, 49.9 percent to 34.4 percent.

Undecided voters accounted for between 7.2 percent and 9.3 percent across the various matchups.

The report added that Dr Bawumia’s support is “nationally competitive and geographically broad,” rather than being confined to a limited number of regional strongholds.
