The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has taken a swipe at the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, over allegations that his outfit, GoldBod, made over $1 billion in losses.

Speaking in a recent X Space interview with journalist Austine Woode, the GoldBod CEO accused Afenyo-Markin and other leading NPP members of deliberately targeting him and his outfit because they believe he is one of the reasons why the NPP lost the 2024 elections.

He claimed that the Minority Leader was making baseless allegations against him and GoldBod because he is bitter.

“As for K T Oppong Nkrumah, I can take some of the things he says seriously because they are not personal. Afenyo-Markin is just being personal. He's a bitter friend, so I can understand.

“You can see the hatred and the bitterness in his voice, he has no issues. He stands up and he says, ‘The issues happening at GoldBod. GoldBod. A lot of bad things happening there... a lot of bad things.’ He would not tell you what the bad things are… whether they are a procurement infraction. He's just looking for my attention, but he won't get it because I'm a very busy person,” he added.

The GoldBod CEO went on to dare the Minority Leader to summon him before Parliament to answer questions on their allegations against him and GoldBod.

He said that Afenyo-Markin and the other NPP legislators would not dare invite him before a committee of Parliament because they know he would embarrass them.

“If he wants me in Parliament, I'm saying they should invite me tomorrow. I am ready... Economic Committee, Finance Committee, Lands and Mines Committee, and they should bring GTV and other media people. I'm challenging them because if I call them for a debate, they won't come. They will say they want me on oath, so they should invite me.

“They don't need any special committee. These are committees of Parliament, standing committees of Parliament. They should invite me and let me come. Public Accounts Committee, Abena Asare, chairwoman, you are saying we are siphoning money, so call us. You were not put there to just talk,” he stated.
