Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has called for an end to what he describes as "prosecutorial incompetence," warning that weak prosecution is undermining Ghana's efforts to combat corruption.

In a Facebook post, Professor Gyampo said the recent Court of Appeal judgment acquitting and discharging former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe exposed significant weaknesses in the country's justice system.

According to him, the ruling should prompt a renewed commitment to upholding the rule of law rather than allowing public sentiment to influence judicial processes.

"The judgment of the Court of Appeal speaks to tremendous flaws that should outweigh emotional sentiments. In a liberal state, optics cannot transcend rules and rights," he wrote.

Professor Gyampo argued that Ghana's fight against corruption must be anchored in competent investigations and prosecutions if it is to secure successful convictions.

"The proper fight against corruption should be intolerant of prosecutorial incompetence," he added.

His comments have generated widespread debate on social media, with many Ghanaians calling for stronger investigative and prosecutorial processes to strengthen the country's anti-corruption efforts.
