A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that the New Patriotic Party NPP may struggle to keep its strong grip on the Ashanti Region in the 2028 elections.
According to a post by Mussa K Dankwah on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on July 30, 2026, the poll shows NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia still leading against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates, with about 56-57% support compared to 34-35% for Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
But the poll also indicates a drop from the 65% Bawumia secured in 2024.
The survey further adds that Kennedy Agyapong, through the Base Movement, could take 5-6% of votes overall, as he performs strongly among people who did not vote in 2024.

The post also claimed that Agyapong could hurt the NPP more in Ashanti than Alan Kyerematen could.
While Bawumia keeps strong loyalty among those who voted in 2024, the data shows risks of vote‑splitting and crossover support that could weaken the party’s dominance.
See post below.
Ashanti region still NPP’s biggest headache for 2028 as it falls below 60% if Kennedy Agyapong jumps into the race in the region with the Base Movement. He will be more dangerous than Alan Kyeremanten in the region. https://t.co/6J5o7uscNd
