Former Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei‑Mensah‑Bonsu, has criticised some members of the clergy who, according to him, were vocal during the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration but have remained silent under the current government.

According to him, he expects pastors who spoke during the previous administration to also speak under the current regime.

“I expect some pastors who spoke in the previous administration to speak. For whatever reasons, these same pastors have refused to speak under this regime," he said.

In a snippet from an interview shared by SIKA OFFICIAL on July 27, 2026, on X, he added that God’s word never changes and must be proclaimed consistently, regardless of which government is in power.

He further alleged that many of these pastors have been appointed to positions in the present government and, as a result, have chosen to remain silent.

He insisted that they should demonstrate the same conviction now as they did in the past.

"God’s words never change. The word of God is always spoken as it is, so you have to do what you did and say what you said in the previous government in the new government," he stated.

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, who is now the Chief of Staff in Dr Bawumia's office, also alleged that their reluctance to speak out is linked to appointments they have received from the present administration.

"And all these pastors have been given positions in this government, so they have refused to speak,” he alleged.
