Former Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Moses Abor, has urged party members, particularly those active on TikTok, to desist from engaging in insults and personal attacks, saying the party should instead concentrate on holding the Mahama administration accountable.

According to Abor, NPP communicators and supporters would better serve the party by highlighting the government's unfulfilled campaign promises and scrutinising its performance rather than resorting to abusive language against political opponents.

Speaking in a video sighted by GhanaWeb on July 22, 2026, he cautioned party faithful against using social media platforms to attack personalities.

"We should stop the politics of insults. As NPP people, our duty is to hold the government accountable by pointing out where it has failed to fulfil its promises, not by abusing people on TikTok," he said.

His comments come amid the arrest of a TikToker, Rita Konadu, popularly known as "Mamaone", with the TikTok handle the_onlymamaone1, by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).

The 49-year-old is alleged to have made offensive and derogatory remarks about President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama in a TikTok video.

Reports indicate that she was arrested at Juaben in the Ashanti Region and is being transported to Accra to assist with investigations and other legal processes.

Her arrest adds to a growing number of cases involving individuals accused of making offensive comments about the President on social media.

One of them, Camila Alhassan, was arrested on similar allegations and later arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court.

On July 16, 2026, Camila pleaded guilty to offensive conduct and was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour.

According to the police, her TikTok video had the potential to cause unrest and undermine national cohesion, a factor that informed the charges brought against her.
