No need to throw away precious money. The root causes are known and must be addressed. We need politicians with spines who will do the right thing without focusing on the next elections.

The root cause of the flooding is the despicable and reckless attitude of some Ghanaians who throw trash and garbage into gutters.

Kay, Let me educate you. A lot of the rivers and tributaries north of Greater Accra region eventually converge in Greater Accra region and empty into the Atlantic ocean. So, even though galamsey may not be happening in Accra itself, Accra and really the whole of Ghana experience the side effects. Destruction of the forests that absorb and slow the flow of heavy rain run-off, destruction of the land through reckless digging around and inside river beds all contribute to surging waters during heavy rainfall along with spreading of the chemicals they use in galamsey that poisons the soil, animal life in the rivers, lakes, and the sea. Everybody suffers. Think nationally.

That leader was vilified as if he was trying to redirect the sea from Accra to some unknown areas in Ghana then, and now, who is suffering and complaining about a problem that could have been solved years back?
That said, why is Accra too congested? Accra is congested because we have neglected the rural areas when it comes to development.

If the root cause is the people throwing trash and garbage everywhere, the leaders must grow a pair and start ticketing and fining people who engage in these irresponsible behaviors and use the money to support the clean-up efforts.
Also, any person caught directly or indirectly involved with galamsey (regardless of societal status) must be arrested and upon conviction, given a minimum mandatory prison sentence of 25 years with no chance of parole. Also, arrest anyone who will go and "beg" for those who are being prosecuted for violating laws.
Effective leadership requires taking bold actions that may even cost you elections, but if you are not willing to do that, then expect no results.

No need for Smart Tunnel. Ghana needs prayers to solve the flooding issue. Remember that prayers arrested the falling cedis, prayers solved the Akosombo water level issue, etc. It's just a matter of time. In God, 1000 years can be seen as 1 year. Ghana may suffer from flooding for 100 years, but if that's God's plan, the issue will be solved according to God's plan. Let us join our hands in prayer.
