A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has disclosed that the Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC is reportedly in poor condition following his detention by the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) over remarks he allegedly made about a Circuit Court judge.

He shared the update about Abronye on his Facebook page on May 17, 2026.

According to him, he received a phone call from his wife, informing him about the current state of her husband.

Abronye rearrested and remanded - Reports

"I’ve just received a ‘distress’ call from his wife. She tells me his condition has deteriorated significantly. She also informs me that, she was only granted access to him yesterday after being denied since Wednesday", he wrote.

Botchway Jnr further disclosed that "Abronye has neither eaten nor taken his medications since his detention".

He further alleged that he has been denied legal counsel, family, food and medical care.

"It’s also concerning that Abronye’s legal team has still not received the record of proceedings, despite formally requesting it on the day of his detention", Botchway Jnr stated.

He questioned if the government, will face the consequences if anything happens to Abronye.

Abronye has been charged with one count of publication of false news and one count of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

He has been remanded by the Bureau of National Intelligence for two weeks with proceedings expected to continue on May 27, 2026.
