Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign, has urged Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo to consider stepping down following controversy surrounding her recent public comments.

According to a report by adomonline.com on May 6, 2026, Aboagye's statements come after the minister issued an apology on April 6 for comments made in a widely circulated video.

In a widely circulated video, she suggested that postings to northern Ghana could be seen as a form of punishment.

Ocloo characterised her remarks as a “genuine slip in communication,” emphasising that they do not represent her actual beliefs or the established policies regarding postings within Ghana’s public service.

During an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, Aboagye acknowledged that while the minister may have made valuable contributions during her time in office, it might be time for her to “make room for others” who can approach the role with a more unifying perspective.

He argued that holding public office requires discipline in communication and warned against what he termed excessive media exposure and careless remarks.

“But if you choose the path she is on, where she appears to crave the spotlight and often makes loose comments, it is not beneficial,” he stated.

Aboagye further emphasised that when public comments provoke widespread backlash, an apology is insufficient.

He argued that leadership in public service must go beyond expressions of regret and demonstrate a deeper sense of accountability.
