My friend, it is unthinkable that this trend can by any stretch of the imagination be stopped. You mean the GHC20, GHC100, GHC500, GHC2,000, GHC20,000, the salt, bentua, school fees payments, hospital charges of constituents, funeral donations, sponsoring of trips abroad, motorbikes, TVs, cars, houses, high-profile job placements, security services conscriptions and other inducements - or should we call them bribes, that are expected from politicians prior to elections should stop? For most Ghanaians who vote, these are the o ly benefits that they get from political candidates and their parties and govts. Without these benefits, many Ghanaians will not have any reason to vote because by and large, these are the only benefits they acquire from the political class and their various govts.

As for those unthinking hypocritical Politicians in Parliament who are calling for the annulment of the said elections on the basis of vote-buying allegations, 2028 will determine how honest they are or how well they will fare.

All that they do is to give the public an idea - or make predictions based on basic research on the ground, about the outcome of an election event. Their predictions are not always bound to be right. For him to say that his recent prediction in this Ayawaso East election was not spot on was because of vote-buying, is as hilarious as it is annoying. He has by this statement exposed himself as a charlatan. Perhaps in his sleep-walking state of mind, he has not yet realized that all - and I mean ALL political candidates resort to influencing by gifts, hard cash vote-buying or promisory benefits or favors in their bid to win elections. Yet, he has been making his predictions - some of which turn out to be right, without casting silly insinuations as he is now doing. How dare him insult the intelligence of Ghanaians like this?

Vote buying started on a quiet note with small-small items like umbrellas, electric kettles, kako, b3ntoa etc. Some people talked against it but they were ignored as if it wasn't anyone's job to curl it. Later npp saw how lucrative it was so they joined the bandwagon and the givers and receivers all came to enjoy it. Now vote buying has grown out of bounds. Currently it has gone out of political arena to educational institutions, even electing school prefects from elementary to tertiary it does happen. So ndc must stop the hypocrisy bow their heads in shame as their hands are soiled with vote buying and it's highly competitive now wherever election is being held. Kai

Ras Mubarak's illogical argument against the decision taken by the new executives of the party shows lack of common sense and an argument that suggests Ghana must not have laws that punish anyone for acts that, while counter to community decency, we know happens frequently.

The question for Ras Mubarak is this: why have ORAL, the OSP or the AG office to conduct investigations into alleged misuse, mismanagement and corruption schemes of political officers since their alleged crimes have been around since Ghana's independence?

My take, Ras Mubarak is that Ghana has and continues to learn from past mistakes and we could be in a better country from here on out if all the political diehards of the past would take moral lessons from HE John Mahama; it's not too late to grow in knowledge and wisdom.

Honorable Ras Mubarak. You are 100% rigt about the expanded electoral college system. That is what the 2 major parties in the U.S. use. Without that, our democracy is not a democracy. It is a scam perpetrated on Ghanaans by the political class. And if care is not taken, our parliament will be run by armed robbers and drug barons in the not-too-distant future. The political establishment scrapped it not because it is not good, but because they realized they could no longer control who they want to be elected as an MP or not. How is our current system better than any military dictatorship? A truly functioning democracy must groom and nurture the brightest and morally uplifting citizens among us to continue the mantle of leadership. Is it surprising, therefore, to see headdressers in our parliament? The current delegate system is designed for the highest bidder and make mockery of our corruption fight as a nation!
