I think the reason may lie in the way that Akufo-Addo ran his government. He literally stacked almost all the important positions with his own Akyem members to the exclusion of other party bases. They amassed significant wealth and influence while the members from other areas were looking in from outside. This created undercurrent resentment from many NPP members, and it shows on how they are reacting towards Ofori Atta’s case. This is my personal opinion, I may be wrong.
