  The election is in December and if it does not go for a second round, it means we have one month before inauguration. The elected president can make nomination of ministers and other appointments within this period

  The pre-election and post-election time spent by these politicians are nit wasted but for them to prepare how to recover the money they spent on their campaigns. Our colonial masters, United Kingdom, USA and other developed and democratic nations all practice four-year term for the presidency. For peace to prevail in our motherland, devoid of chaos and possibility of military intervention, that part of the constitution should be maintained. NDC founder JJ Rawlings ruled for 20 solid years continuously, but could not develop our country and it is the same political party advocating for a longer term for their president. Ghanaians should watch and pray.

  The four years term is good enough for a wise leader to implement his policies to be renewed else, we should forget it. Remember John Mahama's presidency from 2012-16, and imagine he won the next four years, what exactly do you think Ghana would have been?
  
  Those agitating for extending the four years to five years are just stomach directed fools, yes, that is the best description I have for them. We live in a world that behaves like the "Weather" unpredictable and who knows what comes tomorrow to be stuck under a leader who is clueless for five years?

  For a professor, your argument for extended presidential term from 4 to 5 years is very shallow to say the least. If 4 years is too short, what makes 5 adequate. Why not 6 or even 10. If you think the president spends so much time appointing all those many people, perhaps a better suggestion is to change the constitution to limit the president's appointment powers to ministers and a small circle of advisors. This reduces nepotism (deployment of party foot soldiers) - good for the economy, and also frees time for the president.

If Akkufo-Addo had stayed on one more year, this country would have been destroyed completely. The 4-year term is more than enough for any serious and organized president to do something. It takes 4 years for the potential candidate to campaign, plan who to select as oficials and what policies to implement. So from the first day of assumption of power, such president should be able to know exactly what to do. Prof, you are wrong on this.
