We must put an end to these unnecessary debates and talks. Why won't people tell the NDC the truth? These people are ill-intentioned. They have bought off every institution of the republic: the police, the judiciary, the useless one-man churches, the CSOs, the military. These people only understand one language, and every well-intentioned Ghanaian is demanding that language. A genuine reset is needed to move forward.

I think the current system is best for the country in that electorates elect mp base on the perceived competence and other attributes of that mp although the stand on the ticket of a political party. So the mp is not only a political making but also of his/his own capabilities. Allowing political parties to fill a vacant gap will deny the very electorates to choose who represents them, and also make the essence of democracy and elections useless.
Besides that, it could lead to serious problems for the elected mp. Those in line wanting to become mp will try to do anything possible and plot the death of the existing mp knowing very well that they will succeed the sitting mp without scrutiny from the general electorate.

The current Ghana EC statute to replace an MP- for the readon of death, incapacitation, imprisonment or resignation- is the most logical and transparent idea; it is preferable to those in EU nations and in the Americas for 2 good reasons:
(1) the MP not only represents the people in a given precinct but serves as the party's representative for development or lack thereof for the community/precinct and
(2) the party, especially if the ruling majority party, is liable for development or lack thereof in each district / precinct. A by-election ensures that the party of the incumbent must defend its actions/activities in the precinct. If the policies of the party failed to address development and employment equitably across all districts then voters can say so with their ballot. If there is sufficient supervision from the national party executives and the president or VP they would know when and where an MP is failing to live up to expectations and take corrective action.
There are failures that voters place on a sitting president precisely because the president is the head of a ruling party.
We have the best process and logical thought processes to back it up; it is not always the case that we must copy from foreign system for transplantation because it is superior.
