Even though i am highly disappointed that he hangs around utterly dubious characters like the Agradaa woman, I still have a lot of admiration for Sammy Gyamfi as an astute politician. I still however find it very difficult to reconcile the thought of the young sharp politician, Sammy Gyamfi, hob-nobbing with and in the process, being willfully fleeced by a totally crass confidence trickster who is the subject of widespread derision and contempt in this country.

An apology from Sammy Gyamfi is certainly not enough. If the President still wants to keep him, then Sammy needs to be thoroughly debriefed by the intelligence services to ascertain his mental fitness and acuity for the extremely sensitive job he is holding. In fact the substance of his apology which he starts with "folks" does not convey a serious sense of remorse to the many very serious people in finance and trade around the world who will be eavesdropping to figure out the substance of the person who is running the show since the Goldbod idea was introduced recently.

I was a bit taken aback by the appointment of Sammy Gyamfi to the Goldbod firstly because I think he is too young and seemingly inexperienced for such a groundshaking job. And until recently when this story broke, it appeared that Sammy was on top of the business.

Secondly, I still think that, before this appointment, he was doing fabulously well and dealing effectively with the gremlins in the opposition NPP and so he should have remained there to become more mature in the political terrain as a whole before being tasked with a whole institution.

Thirdly, I wondered if he had had sufficient practical exposure or even tutelage in the world of the international economy and business to realize that the office he has been placed in, has the capacity to cause deep cracks in the global economy on the whim of a single policy directive. Our toy economy is obviously not robust nor sensitive enough otherwise this unfortunate and seemingly unrelated minor incident could have caused stocks, shares and some related commodity prices to tumble, leading to grave socio-economic consequences in some countries around the world.

I suggest that Sammy should be made to travel to countries like Burkina Faso, Mali, China, Russia and South Africa to have discussions with his institutional counterparts for him to fully understand what is on his plate and what can be done for the state to better recoup its due.

Your case is only what has been a painful source of concern to many Ghanaians, public officers who come into office, ostensibly to serve the country and parasite off the resources of the office, largely and sometimes those of the State.

For we know that Agradaa is of more NPP than NDC. Well, Sammy is now holding a public position and can be invited to any public event for support irrespective of the ogernizers political affiliation. But the way he presented it has been the bone of contention. I havnt watched the video yet but I believe if the money was to be in an envelope it wouldnt be a much talk about as it is now. Again if it were to be any other person than Agradaa, it would also not be much issue as it is now for that woman is a well known defrauder that Sammy should have better not to do that.
