Akyems helped Akuapem and Ashantis were instrumental in the founding of New Juaben in the Eastern Region. That does not mean the Okyehene comes all the way from Kyebi to claim stools in Akropong. We know there are some underground connections between New Juaben and Ashanti Chieftaincy matters but there’s never a claim by Manhyia. Dagomba and Mamprusi established a garrison in Bawku to send slave caravans across the Sahara centuries ago but in modern times, that authority is not acceptable.

Obiri Boahen is a typical matemeho and believes that the history of Ghana began in the late 17th Century when something called Asanteman was declared and ended in the early 20th Century when the British defeated and disbanded the bullying Asante kingdom. Obiri Boahen fails to acknowledge that history has never been static and that the Asanteman was doomed to be reconquered by the tribes it was bullying and extorting through taxation without representation. In tact , Obiri Boahen is a braggart and dishonest intellectual practicing deception to the gullible. Hi is simply not progressive but a quistling.
The Asantes could defeat other tribes because they had received relatively modern and superior arms from the Europeans and used same to capture their their fellow Africans to deliver to their European partners for more arms to create more chaos.

Dutch map of 1620s mentions Sefwi , Denkyira etc tere was nothing called Asante. There was a mini state called Tafo, Kwaman and Mampong. Asante, is the last tribe to emerge from most of the other Akan tribes in 1701-1702. Brong tribe is the mother of most Akans. It existed as far back as 1200s Akwamu, Denkyira,Akyem etc all existed long before my own Asante tribe was artificially created in 1701. Now, the old Gold Coast started from Sefwi... western region to Accra, Ada and Keta. Ashanti ! Brong Ahafo and the Northern region were not part of the old Gold Coast from 1471-1900. Get these basic raw unadulterated facts into your head instead of the "Apo Fi" that others have fed you over the years.Cheers,!

The high/apeals court ruled in favor of the kusasis yet mamprusi refused. Indeed, asamoah boteng as chieftaincy minister publiy declared kusasi chief as the only chief of Bawku. Nana addo did same. But npp after all these watched the mamprusi install a rival chief and did nothing. This is what has led to the current tensions. We must call a spade a spade. So long as we keep pampering the mamprusi, there wont be peace in bawku.

The situation in Bawku really saddens me, but it seems all the history points the Kusasis as the true owners of Bawku, if so a census should be taken and the tribe with the largest population be allowed to stay there but since Kusasis seems to be the true owners of Bawku, if it happens that the Mamprusis outnumber the Kusasis, then an ownership tax or levy has to be collected by government and given to the Kusasis leadership every year but if the Kusasis outnumber the Mamprusis no tax will be collected from them. The land then should be surveyed again and divided equally, those that are not the original owners must pay for the portion they settle based on their former natural settlement to bring lasting peace. Each of them can maintain their leadership in their obtained portion. Since they were warring a ban will be placed on their representation in the National House of Chief for three years and after the three years if no war is heard among them, then both of their leaders will be accepted to be represented.
