The Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama has stated that corrupt religious leaders in the country will be prosecuted when he is voted in power come December polls.

He warned that religious leaders who embezzle church funds will be made to face the full rigours of the law and jailed if possible.

The presidential hopeful said he will put in place an independent State Prosecutor who will be responsible solely for prosecution of corrupt business leaders, politicians, state officials and the religious leaders some of whom for some time now have gained notoriety in corrupt acts.

He suggested that state institutions and anti-corrupt bodies be deepened and well-resourced to curb corruption which has caught up well in the present society.

‘Business leaders, politicians, church leaders who are corrupt could be prosecuted. Somebody will be independent of all the forces in the country so that we can fight corruption, I have said and I will say it again… that is why I was so upset about the threats on the Supreme Court Judges when we were celebrating martyrs day. If you want to fight corruption, you must have a judiciary that is bold and courageous,’ he stated.

The PNC Flagbearer said situations where people go into government to chop state money will be a thing of the past.

Speaking on Ultimate breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he called on policy makers to put in place policies that would not be abused by party supporters.

He called on the electorate to vote massively for him during the elections, assuring that he will not condone corruption in his government.

He charged government to put in place programmes that will enable youth go into farming with the provision of the requisite inputs.

‘When government have policies that are nonpartisan, like operation feed yourself, I was a Doctor but I took advantage of government’s policy to send myself to America,…I did rice farming. That is why am saying that we must have policies that cannot be abused by our supporters GETFUND, School Feeding etc. Or you put in place mechanisms to check people,’ he said.

He observed that rural roads have not been linked to Regional capitals, intimating that he is following the footsteps of the founder of the party Dr. Hilla Liman to link roads.
