Dear Donald, I followed you for the past year during your campaign liked and disliked certain things you said/did but thought in general do well for the American economy.
I do think that closing the American economy, abandoning Free Trade Agreements with poorer and developing countries and putting up import barriers will bring back jobs to the United States, because Free Trade Agreements always create jobs in countries where labor is cheaper.
Dear Nana, I followed you for the past year during your campaign liked and disliked certain things you said/did but thought in general do well for the Ghanaian economy.
I do think that Ghana needs to industrialize to create jobs for our youth and we should look at every possible way to create jobs for all Ghanaians. But, I was invited to a pre-inauguration speech organized by the Private Enterprise Foundation where you mentioned that you would “localize” the economy and reserve certain sectors of Ghanaian owned businesses, upon which the audience reacted very positive.
My question to both of you is:
How can the President elect of one of the largest economies in the world come to the conclusion to create local jobs by closing the country because of disadvantages of rich country jobs moving to low income countries and a President elect of a low income country support closing the country to create local jobs ? You even mentioned the re-negotiation of the recently passed EPA ?
Either I don’t understand how Free Trade works or one of you (or even both of you) are taking the wrong steps?
Donald, even American, exporting entrepreneurs are warning you that creating import barriers for imports from other countries create export barriers for American exports.
Nana, closing sectors and re-negotiating Trade Agreements are not in the interest of creating more jobs. Jobs have for decades always moved from more expensive to cheaper countries. Training and educating our workforce to international standards and keeping production high at lower labor costs create jobs; at least your colleague Donald concluded that already.
The examples are there, China and India became the labor hubs of the world only after opening their economies and allowing imports into their economies. The side effect was that large foreign investments resulted in quick development and job creation.
I wish both of you a good 4 years in office but hope that neither of you follows the path of closing Free Markets and free market movements..
And maybe this can change your minds: In closed markets consumers end up paying more for goods and services at lower quality and don’t forget consumers are voters and they like good prices and quality and will make you pay for any mistake in 4 years time.

You cannot grow the economy by simply reducing taxes,it's just a fantasy.
The textile industry will continue to collapse if the cost of production remains high because of free market.Textile industries in China don't have dumso and they produce at a very low cost that makes Ghanaian companies unattractive to customers and users.Don't worry be happy.
