THE EX CEO/MD AND HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCE WERE SINGLE HANDEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISENGAGEMENT IN FBNBANK GHANA
The disengagement of the section of employees whose age is from fifty and above was exclusively hatched by the CEO and the Head of Human Resource. Inputs from the rest of management members were not sought. The views of a very instrumental member like Head of Legal Services was not sought, to provide the legal angle to the exercise and he admitted this after the matter was filed in court by the affected employees. Probably if he was consultedFBNBank Ghana would have avoided this shameful legal suit. God has a way of exposing the deeds and intentions of wicked and disgraceful people hence this legal suit. The duo at the forefront of this case did not dream of it going to the extent it has been to.
The motivation for adopting this illegal process was meant to benefit the CEO. As part of his contract he was to be awarded a percentage of the profit he records at the end of the financial year. The higher the after tax profit, the higher the reward. Having been illegally assisted by the Head of Human Resources to cheat on the employees the CEO in turn awarded the highest percentage in Pay For Performance (PFP) in the bank for 2014 to the HR. The citation accompanying this award was that HR was able to save the bank a lot in expenditure. Instead of saving the bank in legal cost and eventual payment of the misappropriated amount with interest at the lending rate exponentially, the duo have taken whatever benefit they have illegally accrued for themselves.
Knowing they have engaged in illegally, the Head of Human Resource advised the payment of monies to some officials of the ICU and UNICOF at the headquarters of the rade Union Congress, to silence them from pointing out the illegality and demanding that the right process is followed. These officials have remained silent on the matter and tacitly allowed the illegality to pass; meanwhile these officials have been maintained by the monthly dues of these ill treated employees whiles in service for several years. This is the caliber of people who are heading our institutions, pretending to be working for the interest of the people but are using their offices to acquire wealth. They abound in almost every institution in this country.
The Head of Human Resource should know from today that the Board of Directors are the legally mandated people to manage the bank and whatever authority management wields is derived from the Board. Management does not have any authority which has not been given to them by the Board and they cannot also exceed the authority given to them by the same Board. In the case of the person who applied for the package per the terms of the Board’s approval, he was denied because the HR says that person’s name was not part of the list submitted to the Board and also the person was not fifty years when the names were submitted to the Board. All these descriptions were at variance to the terms of approval by the Board. The HR should know that what the Board approves holds sway over what they have submitted, including whatever amendments and additions included by the Board and cannot proceed to do what they want. Further to this, the Bank breached some provisions of the 1992 Constitution particularly the Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms of the employees like his Liberty and Discrimination against him. The Bank will hear all these when the matter eventually gets to the courts. It is therefore disgraceful on the part of a big bank like FBNBank to be totally ignorant of these related legal matters with all the so called big men sitting in big chairs in their offices referring to themselves as management.
The Head of Human Resource, Michael TettehVoetagbe prefers to bribe people when the Bank engage in illegalities instead of doing the right thing so he should be preparing to bribe the Judge who will be handling the matter when it gets to court. As long as the legal system provides for appeal up to the Supreme Court, FBNBank should make provision for legal expenses in their budgets up to this level. They prefer this than doing the right thing and avoiding the bad publicity and the payment of bribes in a case which they will eventually lose when the full distance is exhausted.
The problem with Michael is that his conduct on the job smacks of unprofessionalism and always trying to please his Nigerian bosses. He has displayed favoritism in the selection and approval staff loans on several occasions; all one needs to do is to be in his good books. It is being insinuated that one of the employees who was considered for the package had to influence him financially to get his application approved. In the advent of the takeover of ICB by the Nigerians Michael attempted relocating to National Investment Bank but this effort was thwarted by some ex employees who are with NIB. His exit from Access Bank is a real blessing to that bank.He will try to justify and paint a good picture to the new CEO and will ignore the illegality which will cost the Bank dearly.

Please tell ECG that there's a house in Sowutoum close to Pentecost University called Azaglo hostel that needs to be investigated critically because the light in that house has never goes off or prepaid getting finished until there's "dumsor". Yet the Landlord charges or take light bills from students living in the hostel. He's suspected to have done some illegal connection. It's corruption.
