Security in Sekondi-Takoradi has been heightened following increasing reports of kidnappings of young girls in the metropolis.

A prime suspect by name Samuel Wills Udoetuk is standing trial after being rearrested for breaking jail.

Connect FM has intercepted some of Samuel Wills’s personal documents, which bear different names though with same picture.

Meanwhile, a report by starrfmonline.com stated that the Nigerian kidnapping suspect who is being prosecuted in Takoradi is reported to be mocking the Ghanaian security agencies in his cells.

According to a police source, Sammy Willis boasts among his cell mates that he alone is holding the security forces in Ghana to ransom even after a number of kidnappings.

“The guy is enjoying in prison, he is hailed as king in his cells. He brags that he has kidnapped many people . He has been mocking Ghana in the cells, he says we can’t do anything about it,” the officer told Starrfmonline.com.

Kidnapping has been on the rise in the oil-rich region. Residents of the Western region say about seven people have been kidnapped so far, a claim the police have disputed. The police put the figure at three.

A parent of one of three girls who have been kidnapped lamented the alleged kidnappers have refused to bring back his daughter even after paying a demanded ransom.

The Gender Minister has served notice of a meeting with the police chief David Asante-Apeatu to speed up the process of closing in on the kidnappers.
