Tema, Dec. 11, GNA -- A Nigerian driver who failed to stop at Dawa police barrier at night and had to be chased, has been fined two million cedis by the Tema circuit court 'B'.
John Bull pleaded guilty on two counts of failing to stop when ordered to do so by the police officer in uniform, and use of defective headlights. He will go to prison for 12 months in default. Chief Inspector Teye Matey, told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on December 8, 2004, at 10 am, accused was driving a BMW saloon car with registration number 586 AAA from Lagos, Nigeria to Accra.
He said on reaching Dawa police barrier, when the accused was signalled to stop, he failed, and was, therefore, chased and arrested between Nyigbenya and Dawhenya. Chief Inspector Matey said the accused had passengers on board, and had defective headlights.
