Police in Ashaiman are in search of the driver who ran his truckload of building blocks into traders at Ashaiman market.

The Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ashaiman Police Divisional Command, DSP Isaac Kojo Forson, has appealed to the public to provide information on the driver to be picked up to assist in investigations.

At least 5 vehicles were also damaged by by the Kia truck.

The Police said the driver of the vehicle could not be found when the police arrived at the scene.

This, he said, was after the police received a distress call around 9am Thursday about the accident.

The driver was heading towards the main Ashaiman traffic light from the Ashaiman Senior High School, when the accident occurred.

The truck run into the people most of whom are traders on reaching the Barclays Bank which is around the traffic light.

The injured are receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit if the Tema General Hospital while the deceased who died upon arrival at the hospital has been deposited at the morgue waiting autopsy.
