Tema, Sept. 12, GNA -- A 38-year old carpenter who dragged a 10-year old bread seller into a room and forcibly had sex with her, has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court 'B'.
Kwasi Asehvi, pleaded not guilty to a charge of defiling a girl under 16 years of age, and will re-appear on Thursday, September 23. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that in the morning of August 7, this year, the victim was sent by her grandmother to collect bread for sale from a nearby house at Community Four where both the accused person and girl stayed.
Chief Inspector Gyamfi said the victim kept longer than usual, spending about two hours.
The prosecution said when she finally got home and the grandmother questioned her, the girl disclosed that the accused person dragged her into a room and forcibly had sex with her, and warned her not to tell anyone, else he will beat her to death.
Chief Inspector Gyamfi said the grandmother led the girl to report the matter to the police.
The prosecution said the girl was issued with a medical form for treatment, while the accused person was arrested later.
