An Accra Circuit has remanded Mariama Anetor, trader and Edward Kofi Agbende, unemployed into police custody for alleged conspiracy and robbery.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty and would reappear on March 30.

Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court that the complainant was Tormye Zegbedzi, a Financial Analyst.

He said on March 5, the accused persons met at a night club in James Town Accra, where Mariama bought a drink for Kofi, whilst drinking they discussed many things including how to get money to celebrate the 6th March holiday.

He said on March 6 at about 11am Kofi met and picked Mariama on unregistered motorbike at Odorkor under the traffic light and rode to the independence square.

“They went behind the square had fun from there they moved to Adjiringanor on the motor bike where they met the complainant sitting in front of his shop with his Apple I phone plus valued at GH¢ 3,300.00 reading messages,” he added.

He said Kofi stopped the motorbike and asked Mariama to get down and snatched the mobile phone from the complainant.

The Prosecution said the complainant saw Mariama walking towards him but thought she was a customer but when she got to where the complainant was seated she forcibly snatched the mobile phone and run towards Kofi, who was waiting on the motorbike by the road side.

She jumped on to the motorbike but before they could sped off the complainant, who was chasing Mariama pushed the motorbike and they both fell to the ground.

He said the accused persons run towards different directions but the complainant chased Mariama because she was with the mobile phone and arrested and handed her over to the East Legon police.

Mariama admitted the offence in her caution statement and mentioned Kofi as an accomplice but failed to lead police to his arrest.

On March 9, Mariama appeared before Mr Richard Delali Anku, Madina District Magistrate court on the charges of conspiracy and stealing but after listening to the complainant the judge advised the police to amend the charge sheet and charge her with robbery.

He said on March 11, Kofi was arrested at his hide out in James Town where he admitted the offences in his caution statement and further told police that it was Mariama, who led him there.
