The Kuntanase Magistrate has ordered a female teacher arrested for allegedly murdering her husband in Aputuogya in the Bosomtwe District, to be transferred from police custody to the Kumasi Central Prisons.

This followed a plea made by the counsel of the lactating mother, that conditions at the Jachie police cell, where she had been held since June 30, were making it difficult to breast-feed her six-month old baby.

Adwoa Oppong Pokuaa reportedly stabbed her man, also a teacher, at the Kumasi High School during a quarrel.

Her plea has not been taken and she would make her next appearance on Friday, August 12.

The facts of the case as presented to the court, presided over by Mrs. Cynthia Blagogee were that the accused and the deceased, Justice Adu Bosompem, had been married for some time and they have three children.

The married couple allegedly had a misunderstanding on the day of the incident and in the heat of it, Pokuaa was said to have picked a kitchen knife and threatened to take her own life.

Bosompem attempted to disarm the woman and that resulted in a struggle during which he got stabbed in the ribs.

He was rushed to the Saint Michael’s Hospital in Pramso but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the autopsy report is ready and has been sent to the Attorney-General’s Department for direction.
