Plumber jailed for abusing minor

Alex Agbemaflui, 43, was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment for inserting his finger into a five year old girl’s private parts.

Charged with indecent assault, Agbemaflui, aka Gbortsu, pleaded guilty.

The Court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu convicted Agbemaflui on his own plea and sentenced him accordingly.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the victim lives with her parents at Achimota in Accra whilst Agbemaflui also resides in the same area.

Inspector Atimbire said on June 21 at about 17:00 hours, when Agbemaflui was returning from a drinking spot, he saw the victim playing with her friends.

Prosecution said Agbemaflui called the victim and lured her to an isolated place and inserted his finger into the victim.

Inspector Atimbire said the following day, the victim complained of pains when the mother was bathing her.

The prosecutor said the victim then told her mother that it was Agbemaflui who did it.

On June 23, the victim’s father on hearing the matter paraded six men, and the victim pointed Agbemaflui as the culprit.

The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Police and Agbemaflui was picked up whiles a medical report was issued to the victim for her to be examined and treated.

During interrogation, Agbemaflui said he only touched the victim while she was wearing her pant and denied that he ever inserted his finger into the victim.
