Agona Swedru CID to investigate murder case

The Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command has ordered the immediate transfer of alleged attempted murder case involving the Chief of Gomoa Mpota from the Winneba District Police Command to Agona Swedru for further investigations.

The order, followed a petition made by, Nana Kofi Sackey, Abusuabaatan of Mpota to the Divisional Police Command to intervene to ensure fair and unbiased handling of the alleged plot to assassinate the chief, Nana Baidu Appiah VI, by ex-Abusuapanyin and others from Mpota.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nana Asomah Hinneh, Agona Swedru Divisional Police Commander, made this known to the press at Swedru.

The Division received the petition from Nana Sackey on February 11, 2014, appealing to his outfit to take over the matter to ensure proper handling of the case.

On 10th February, 2014, the Winneba Police arrested ex-Abusuapanyin of Mpota, Kwesi Gurah and James Abor, (Alias Compressor) at Gomoa Awomerow, near Winneba-Junction, over an alleged plot to kill the Mpota Chief.

ACP Hinneh said he had ordered the Agona Swedru Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case from Winneba District Police Command.

He assured the petitioner that the police would investigate the matter and those found to have committed the crime would be brought to book to ensure peace at Gomoa Mpota.
