Yamoah Ponkoh slapped!

A Circuit Court at Juaben in the Ejisu/Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti region has adjourned a case in which Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, was allegedly slapped by a one Shake John Aidoo, to January 27.

Mr Aidoo, 60, and his son George Boateng, 25, were arraigned before court on Tuesday on charges of assault and conspiracy to commit crime.

Shake Aidoo is a known National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist in the municipality.

The prosecutor told the court that the suspect and his son visited Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh’s office at Ejisu recently to find out why his gas filling station had been locked by a taskforce of the assembly.

At the MCE’s office, Shake Aidoo was said to have suddenly pounced on Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, who was seated in the chair and slapped him severally after which he bolted away.

Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh later reported the case to the police, who eventually apprehended the two to assist in investigations.

The court did not take the plea of the suspects who are currently on bail, and the presiding judge adjourned the case to January 27, this year after the prosecutor’s narration.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the leadership of the NDC in the region is said to be working behind the scenes to withdraw the matter from court for amicable settlement.

According to reports, Shake Aidoo has helped the party in diverse ways in the past so the party is unhappy with the current happenings.
