Police arrest two armed robbers

Two teenage armed robbers are in the grip of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police for allegedly robbing Senior High School students at Techimantia in the region of their mobile phones and wounded one girl in the process.

They are Sandi Amoah, 18, and Kwame Bosompem 17, labourers and residents of Kumasi in the Ashanti region. They allegedly attacked one Seidu Zakaria with a knife and made away with his motor bike. Police Deputy Commissioner (DCOP) Robert Ayalingo, Regional Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that about 2200 hours on March 23, the teenagers entered the school campus and robbed the students.

He said after that they went to the Techimantia town and attacked Seidu at a knife point and took his motor bike with registration number M-10-AS2064.

The Regional Police Commander said they sat on the motor bike and were heading towards Kumasi but they were involved in a motor accident at Bechem and sustained serious injuries.

He said the teenagers hid in the bush till the following morning when they decided to board a vehicle at the Bechem Lorry station to Kumasi.

DCOP Ayalingo said the driver of the vehicle they boarded suspected them to be criminals and thereby drove them to the Bechem Police Station.

He said a search on them retrieved some mobile phones and implements such as knives and scissors.

The Regional Police Commander said during interrogation the police got to know that they were the robbers who attached the students and also robbed Seidu of his motor bike.
