Mim Police arrest seven suspected armed robbers

The Mim Police on Monday arrested seven suspected armed robbers, who terrorised and robbed some passengers on the Mim-Kassapin road in the Asunafo North Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Annan, Mim District Police Commander, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday, said the police had a tip off that some robbers on the Kasapin road were robbing passengers who were traveling on the road.

He said when the police patrol team rushed to the place, the robbers had finished robbing the passengers and had fled.

DSP Annan said the police mounted a search for the robbers that day, but their effort proved futile until February 4 when the police arrested the suspects at their hide-out following a tip off.

DSP Annan said the Goaso Divisional Police Command had sent the suspects to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command for further investigation, and gave the assurance that the police would clamp down on criminals in the area.

He appealed to the people to volunteer information to the police to enable them to effectively fight crime.

Kwasi Kusi, a victim of the robbery, who was shot in the shoulder, told GNA that he and other passengers were robbed of their mobile phones and unspecified amount of Ghana Cedis.

He said Emmanuel Asante, a taxi driver, who sustained injury on the mouth was responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
