Two arrested for possessing “Wee”

The Agona Swedru circuit court has remanded two persons into prison custody for possessing dried leave suspected to be Indian hemp.

The pleas of Esther Nketsia, 20, a drinking bar operator, and Fredrick Asante, a former student, both from Agona Asafo, were not taken and the court ordered them to re-appear on November 6.

Inspector Opoku Mensah told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Nathaniel Osam that on September 24, the Agona Swedru District Police Command had information that a drinking spot at Agona Asafo was being used to peddle narcotic drugs.

A team of police personnel led by the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anthony Nana Ekow Yawson went to the bar and found 351 wrappers of Indian hemp were found.

Inspector Mensah said Asante was also arrested at the bar and when searched, quantities of the leaves were found in his pocket.
