A 40-year-old trader has been found dead in her room at Tanoso in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, with preliminary reports suggesting she may have died about four days before her body was discovered.

The deceased, identified only as Anita, was found on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after co-tenants reportedly noticed a foul smell coming from her room.

The Assembly Member for the area, Aron Nandie, told OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim that he was informed about the incident after the body was discovered.

He said preliminary information indicated that the woman had gone to bed on Sunday and had not been seen since.

Nandie said the police and environmental health officers from the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly were called to the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the morgue.

The circumstances surrounding Anita’s death remain unclear, and investigations are expected to establish what led to her death.

The incident has reportedly left residents fearful, with some calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
