Eight Nigerian nationals suspected of involvement in cyber fraud activities have been remanded into custody following an intelligence-led police operation at a residential property in Kotokrom, in the Sunyani East Municipality.

Officers from the Bono Regional Police Command raided the self-contained property, which investigators suspect was being used by the group as an operational base.

During a search of the premises, the police reportedly retrieved a number of electronic devices and equipment, including 19 mobile phones, tablets, laptops, internet receivers and a high-speed router allegedly used in connection with their online activities.

The operation followed intelligence gathered by local security agencies, which led police to the property and disrupted what investigators believe was a structured cyber fraud operation in the area.

The development has raised concerns among residents, who have urged property owners and landlords to conduct thorough background checks and verify the identities of prospective tenants before renting out their properties.

Some residents have also called on the relevant authorities to ensure that the suspects are prosecuted in accordance with the law if found guilty.

Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing, with forensic analysis being conducted on the electronic devices and other items seized from the premises.

Authorities are expected to establish the full extent of the alleged operation and determine whether other individuals may be connected to the suspects.
